The Center for the History of Knowledge (ZGW) is a scientific institution of the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich for research and teaching in the field of modern knowledge systems and knowledge societies .

The History of Knowledge Center was founded with effect from January 1, 2005. Founding members include David Gugerli , Michael Hagner , Philipp Sarasin and Jakob Tanner . The ZGW promotes and coordinates cultural , historical and philosophical research and teaching about modern knowledge systems and knowledge societies. The center is supported by scientists from various humanities disciplines.

A doctoral program with 26 doctoral candidates (as of 2018) is also associated with the ZGW .

The college is supported by the Swiss National Fund for the Promotion of Scientific Research (SNSF).

Publications

The Center for the History of Knowledge supports the publication of the magazine Nach Feierabend. Zurich yearbook for the history of knowledge published by Diaphanes .
