The Leibniz Center for Psychological Information and Documentation (ZPID) is a supra-regional information infrastructure for psychology in German-speaking countries. It supports - based on an ideal research cycle - the entire scientific work process from the collection of ideas and literature research to the documentation of the research work and the archiving of data to the publication of the results. It is committed to the idea of open science and sees itself as a public open science institute for psychology. The ZPID is a member of the Gottfried-Wilhelm Leibniz Scientific Association

history

In 1963, Wolfgang Metzger and Martin Cremer suggested the establishment of an institute for psychological information and documentation. In 1967 Carl Graf Hoyos presented a plan study “Psychological Documentation”, and in the spring of 1970 the board of the German Society for Psychology decided to establish it. The ZPID was founded in 1971 as a project at the University of Trier by Günther Reinert . The director Leo Montada , who succeeded Günter Reinert , was responsible for expanding and stabilizing the institute, thereby ensuring the long-term existence of the facility. From 1988 it was run as the “Central Scientific Facility” of the University of Trier. After another evaluation by the Science Council , the ZPID became a founding member of the Leibniz Association in 1997. Under the part-time management of Günter Krampen , the institute's tasks were opened up to the European and international area and a new research area was set up. Since January 1, 2013, the ZPID has been a legally independent institution under public law of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate . It is still located at the University of Trier, with which it cooperates scientifically. In 2017 Michael Bosnjak took over full-time management of the ZPID.
