Michael Bosnjak

Michael Bosnjak (born September 12, 1971 in Freiburg im Breisgau , Germany ) is a German-Croatian psychologist . He is W3 Professor for Psychological Methodology at the University of Trier and Acting Director of the Leibniz Center for Psychological Information and Documentation (ZPID).

Academic and professional career

After studying psychology at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg (until 1997), from which he graduated as a psychologist, Bosnjak initially worked as a doctoral student and research assistant at the University of Heidelberg , then as a research assistant at the former Center for Surveys and Methods and analyzes (ZUMA) in Mannheim (1998–2003). He received his doctorate in 2002 from the University of Mannheim (title of the dissertation: (Non) Response to web surveys, summa cum laude). From 2003 to 2008, Bosnjak was a university assistant (C1, current name: junior professor) for consumer psychology and psychological research methods at the University of Mannheim before joining the Economics Faculty of the Free University of Bolzano as a professor of marketing (2008-2015). In 2007 he was awarded the venia legendi for psychology by Mannheim University . In 2013 he received an honorary professorship from the University of Mannheim at the Faculty of Social Sciences and also the "Italian National Habilitation for Management", which enables him to hold a chair for corporate management in Italy . In the same year he became team leader at the GESIS - Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences, set up the GESIS panel (2013–2016) and headed the Survey Operations division (2015–2017). In 2016 Bosnjak became W3 professor for evidence-based survey methodology at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Mannheim. He held these positions until his change as director of the Leibniz Center for Psychological Information and Documentation and as professor for psychological methodology at the University of Trier on July 1, 2017.

Research priorities

Bosnjak's main research areas include a. in the areas of research synthesis methods, consumer / business psychology and questionnaire methodology.

  • 2003 Karin Islinger Prize (best dissertation at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Mannheim 2002)
  • 2007 nomination of the Mannheim psychology student council for the state teaching award of the state of Baden-Württemberg
  • 2011 Isaac Manasseh Meyer Fellowship, awarded by the National University of Singapore
  • 2013 Honorary Professorship, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Mannheim
