Saúl Ordoñez Gavela (born April 10, 1994 in Salentinos ) is a Spanish middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800-meter course .

Athletic career

Saúl Ordóñez gained his first experience in international championships at the Junior European Championships 2013 in Rieti , where he was eliminated in the first round over 1500 meters. Two years later he took part in the U23 European Championships in Tallinn , where he won the silver medal in the 800-meter run behind Poland's Artur Kuciapski in 1: 48.23 minutes .

In 2016 he took part in the U23 Mediterane Championships in Tunis , where he won the silver medal with the Spanish 4 x 400 meter relay and bronze over 800 meters. In 2018 he qualified to take part in the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , where he surprisingly won the bronze medal over 800 meters in 1: 49.01 min.

In 2017 Ordóñez became the Spanish champion over 800 meters.
