The ZfP Südwürttemberg (ZfP = Center for Psychiatry) operates as a supply company in all areas of psychiatric and psychosomatic treatment and care. The supply region extends from Stuttgart to Lake Constance. Supply focuses besides the general psychiatry , the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry , the geriatric psychiatry (including geriatric psychiatry called), the area Psychosomatic Medicine and depression , the field of addiction diseases Neurology and Epileptology . Furthermore, the association is responsible for the areas of care and living, work and rehabilitation as well as for the treatment of addictions and the penal system. The ZfP Südwürttemberg is a member of the ZfP Group Baden-Württemberg .

history
At the beginning of the 19th century, in the course of secularization, the church facilities in Weissenau, Bad Schussenried and Zwiefalten passed into secular ownership. In 1812, the Münsterklinik was founded in Zwiefalten as the “Royal Württemberg Insane Asylum”, followed by Bad Schussenried and Weissenau in 1875 and 1892.
The sanatoriums and nursing homes were renamed as psychiatric state hospitals in 1953 . 1975 was the publication of the Psychiatry Enquête of the Federal Republic of Germany. This leads to the opening of the psychiatric facilities and the expansion of outpatient care offers. The Centers for Psychiatry in Baden-Württemberg became institutions under public law in 1996. As of January 1, 2009, the three centers for psychiatry in Bad Schussenried, Weissenau and Zwiefalten merged to form the ZfP Südwürttemberg with headquarters in Bad Schussenried. The name ZfP Südwuerttemberg is derived from the earlier designation Centers for Psychiatry South Württemberg.

Research and Teaching
The research and teaching division of the ZfP Südwürttemberg is divided into three departments: health services research, biological and psychopharmacological research, and child and adolescent psychiatry. The company also cooperates with Ulm University and is recognized as an academic teaching hospital . Twice a year, weissenau offers a block internship in psychiatry for medical students at the University of Ulm, and in Zwiefalten for students at the University of Tübingen .
