  4. "With this recording Haiou Zhang, celebrates Liszt year in masterly and inclusive style. The B minor Sonata is at the heart of his program and here, in music once considered technically unplayable and musically incomprehensible, he recreates a visionary masterpiece and a landmark in the history of music with exceptional grandeur and lucidity. Haiou Zhang is a most serious artist. "Bryce Morrison, Gramophone Magazine 4/2011
  5. ^ "He gives a thoroughly noble performance without any excesses. Funerailles from Harmonies Poetiques et Religieuses, given an appropriately powerful and dramatic performance. Both St Francis of Assisi Preaching to the Birds and those majestic Fountains at the Villa d'Este are so marvelously depicted in Liszt's music. Zhang has great musicality and the technique to back it up and bring these sound pictures to life. [...] Haiou Zhang gives a true bang-up performance that I'm sure both Liszt and Horowitz would smile at. "James Harrington, American Record Guide 7/8 2011
  6. ^ "[...] the notes fly from Zhang's fingers as sparks from flint. There is a steel-like strength in his playing that not merely surmounts every technical obstacle but makes of it an effortless lope. And yet, wherever Liszt pauses to paint musical portraits of romantic dalliances past and present, and dreams of passions yet to come Zhang's tone turns pliant, plaintive, and tender. All of this is aided and abetted by a recording of such crystalline clarity as to dispel any sense that an electronic reproduction stands between you and Zhang's piano. For Liszt lovers, Zhang's recital is indispensable. ”Jerry Dubins, Fanfare Magazine 7/8 2011
  7. “As far as technology is concerned, the Chinese Haiou Zhang is a real virtuoso, and on top of that a hundred percent musician who does not focus on show power, but rather combines emotionality with intellectuality. He's charismatic, but he doesn't impose himself, he takes us on a demanding musical journey, to which he gives a very personal touch, during which he always keeps us awake and attentive and gives us the opportunity to part with his intense playing put. His Liszt interpretations are powerful, have a huge dynamic range and a rich color palette. They consistently testify to great musical sensitivity and, seen in this way, are a welcome homage to Liszt in his anniversary year. ”Rémy Frank, Pizzicato 3/2011
