Kuno Heribert Fütterer (born April 2, 1894 in Hettstedt , † August 24, 1963 in Munich ) was a German officer , most recently General der Flieger in World War II .

Early years and World War I

Fütterer joined the Bavarian Army on March 22, 1914 , where he was initially employed in the local 17th Infantry Regiment . With this, Fütterer marched to the Western Front after the outbreak of World War I , where he served as platoon leader , battalion adjutant, company commander and orderly officer until September 26, 1915 . On September 27, 1915, Fütterer switched to the air force , where he completed an aviation training with the Air Force Replacement Department 11 until January 21, 1916 . On March 6, 1916, Fütterer returned to the front line and acted as an observer at Feldflieger -teilung 45 until June 10, 1917 . On April 17, 1918, Fütterer was assigned to the staff of Fliegergruppen-Kommandeurs 6, from where on August 11, 1918 he was appointed adjutant to the staff of bomb squadron 6 at the Supreme Army Command . Interwar period

On October 1, 1933, Fütterer joined the Luftwaffe, which was under construction. He was there until the end of April 1936, initially as the commander of the long-distance flying school in Berlin . On May 1, 1936, he was promoted to Chief of Staff of the Air Force Reserve Inspection Department in the Reich Aviation Ministry , whose function he held until the end of February 1937. From March 1937 to May 1938 Fütterer acted as group commander of the II./Kampfgeschwader 157 "Boelcke" .

Second World War

On June 1, 1938, Fütterer began his service as an air attaché at the German embassy in Budapest ( Hungary ). He then held his position until December 13, 1944. A few days later, on December 28, 1944, Hungary declared war on the German Reich. During his time there, Fütterer acted from November 5, 1943 to the end of March 1944, at the same time as General of the German Air Force in Hungary and from April 1944 to December 13, 1944 also as Commanding General of the German Air Force in Hungary.

On December 13, 1944, Fütterer returned to Germany and was appointed Commanding General and Commander in Luftgau XI Bohemia and Moravia on the same day . He held this position until the end of April 1945. Then he was up to May 10, 1945 when Luftflotte 6 available or a few days in the leader Reserve of the High Command of the Air Force . Following this, Fütterer was taken prisoner by the Allies , from which he was released on May 12, 1947.
