Zheng Xiaoyu
Zheng Xiaoyu ( Chinese 鄭筱萸 / 郑筱萸 , Pinyin Zhèng Xiǎoyú , * 1944 in Fuzhou , Fujian ; † July 10, 2007 ) was a Chinese civil servant. He graduated from Fudan University in 1968 with a bachelor's degree , joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1979 and was the head of several agencies from 1994 to 2003, most recently as director of the State Office for Control and Administration of Food and Medicines.
Zheng Xiaoyu was charged with corruption . During his tenure, the agency he heads, the China Food and Drug Administration , approved over 150,000 new drugs, many of them after bribes were paid. Some of the drugs so approved have been linked to death. Zheng Xiaoyu died on July 10th, 2007 from the execution of the May death penalty . He was the fourth ministerial convict to be executed for bribery .
