Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co., Ltd. ( Chinese : 郑州日产 汽车 有限公司) is a joint venture between the China International Trust and Investment Company and the Japanese Nissan Automobile Business Corporation .

founding

The company was founded in March 1993 with headquarters in Zhengzhou , Henan . After two years of construction, the plant was completed and a month later the first production line was completed. The company produces 21,500 units annually in China, 1,500 of them under the Dongfeng brand . Production began with the Nissan D21 pick-up . A year later, the two Vice Prime Ministers Li Lanqing and Wu Bangguo came to visit and toured the plant. After a phase of several years, the D21 pick-up was integrated into the test phases of the state National Center of Quality and Technology Supervision in June 1998 and ultimately passed this with the best quality award. In January 1999, however, the D21 was replaced by the more modern D22 generation. In March 2003 the second production line was set up and the Nissan Paladin was launched. Two months later, it was awarded the Most Fashion-leading Vehicle Model Prize at the tenth Shanghai Motor Show .

In October 2004, Dongfeng Motor Corporation bought the majority of the shares and thus took over the plant. The first established vehicles were the Dongfeng Eastwind EQ2050 , which is said to be a copy of the American Hummer H1 , and the military missile launcher truck Dongfeng 21A TEL , which is intended for the transport and launch of nuclear weapons. In summer 2005, the Nissan pick-up received a facelift and has since been available in two versions, Luxury Edition and Euro III Edition . With the Paladin, on the other hand, it was only a revision of the interior. In October, Dongfeng brought the pre-facelift back into the model range with a slight retouch and from now on coined it with the name Dongfeng Rich Pick-up .

Since July 2006, Zhengzhou-Nissan has been represented by authorized dealers throughout the People's Republic of China. Through a trade agreement with the Russian Sino-Russian Friendship Organization in the same month, some of the Nissan and Dongfeng vehicles have since been sold in Russia , North Korea , South Korea and Vietnam .

On the occasion of important political visits, the two models Dongfeng Yumsun and Dongfeng Oting were presented to the world for the first time in September 2007 . A severe earthquake in March 2008 caused the company to convert many of its finished vehicles into rescue and auxiliary vehicles. Furthermore, the work donated 1.3 million  ¥ and the people working there workers 280,000  ¥ the one established by the State Assistance Fund. In September 2008 the construction of the new plant (the 2nd within China) began in the Zhengzhou Economic & Technical Development Zone , which finally started production in November 2009 with the Nissan Cabstar.

Motorsport

January 2004 a Nissan Paladinan took part in the Dakar Rally and achieved the 57th place. The following year, the Paladin team also took part in the Dakar Rally. This time with three units and made it to 19th, 44th, and 56th place. In July 2008, Zhengzhou-Nissan took part in the Trans-Orientale Rally for the first time . Two of the participating teams were provided by the Zhongji Company. The third team, however, was straight from Zhengzhou-Nissan. The new Dongfeng Oting were used . Zhou Yong , reached seventh place. Xulang, the team's Angolan driver, was killed in an accident on June 17, 2008. The actual navigator made it to the twenty-eighth place after several hours of repairs.
