Zhou Tai ( Chinese  周泰 ; † 228 ), majority name Youping , was a general of the Wu Dynasty at the time of the Three Kingdoms in ancient China.

He was a tall, sturdy man of few words who was said to never lose calm in any battle.

He initially served with his comrade Jiang Qin (from pirate days) as Sun Ces's bodyguard and was later promoted to squad leader. He also often saved Sun Quan 's life later . An attack by the Shanyue rebels on the then young Sun Quan (Sun Ce had set out on a campaign) left him with lifelong scars. He later saved Sun Quan from an ambush by Wei General Zhang Liao in Hefei. From then on, Sun Quan never let Zhou Tai leave his side in battle.

When Sun Quan appointed him commander of Ruxu, many generals were dissatisfied and pointed to Zhou Tai's common origins. Sun Quan traveled personally to Ruxu and asked Zhou Tai at a festival there about the stories behind his numerous scars. This was how Zhou Tai shared his battle memories, which earned him the respect of the other officers who took his command.

Zhou Tai was originally a pirate who fought Sun Jian during the Eastern Han Dynasty . At that time he was friends with the pirate Gan Ning . After Gan Ning was shot dead by Shamoke , a Shu general, in the Battle of Yiling , Zhou Tai took revenge for him and killed Shamoke.
