Zichtau oak

The Zichtau Oak is a natural monument in the Hellberg Mountains north of the village of Zichtau in Saxony-Anhalt .

The oak , which died in 1973 , was assigned an age of 1,000 years. The oak was therefore also referred to as the 1000-year-old oak from Zichtau . Although the tree has died, it is still considered a natural monument today. In addition to the memory of the tree, its current function as dead wood for the natural balance is the cause. The designation as a natural monument took place in 1961. It is listed as a natural monument under the code ND 0005SAW.
