Categorization

In Germany , the German Hotel and Restaurant Association defines the categorization of accommodation establishments. Accordingly, a four-star accommodation must offer 24-hour room service for ordering food and drinks or a minibar for all rooms.

Personal room service

food and drinks

In some hotels, food and drinks can be ordered to the room by calling the reception . Occasionally there is a special menu in the room. The ordered food and drinks are prepared by the hotel kitchen and then brought to the guest's room. Either a tip is expected for this, or it is included as a service charge in the higher menu prices.

Other services

Other forms of personal room service are, for example, massages on a mobile massage table or manicures or foot care in the room.

Contactless room service

A contactless form of room service is the provision of a minibar in the guest's room.
