Location of the Zinnhütte, behind the Schmelzberg

The Zinnhütte was a mining facility in Johanngeorgenstadt , Erzgebirgskreis , Saxony .

The hut for processing tin belonging to the town of Johanngeorgenstadt was located at the confluence of the Pechöferbach and the Jugelbach, directly on the city limits and the Saxon-Bohemian border. It was laid out in 1662 and existed until 1796. After the unification of the mining districts Johanngeorgenstadt , Schwarzenberg and Eibenstock , it was replaced by the Revierschmelzhütte am Schwarzwasser , which began operations in 1798 and existed until 1897.

Today the mining hiking trail runs past the former location of the Zinnhütte, after which the Schmelzberg is popularly named.
