Bouchet Cistercian Abbey
The Cistercian Abbey Bouchet (also: Le Bosquet ) was the 12th century from the center to 1413 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Bouchet , Drôme , France.
history
Raimund I von Les Baux († 1149) founded the Cistercian convent Notre-Dame du Bosquet (Latin: Boschetum ) ten kilometers east of Bollène , from which the village of Bouchet later developed. The monastery was given particular importance by the veneration of relics of St. Dominican Bertrand von Garriga, who died there in 1233 . In 1413 the ruined monastery was transferred to the Aiguebelle monastery connected, which populated it with a few monks. In 1475 the Archbishop of Avignon converted the monastery into a school (Collège du Roure), which was followed by other secular uses in the 19th century. The partially preserved buildings were acquired by the municipality in 2005 and are currently members of the European Charter of Cistercian Abbeys and Sites .
