history

The Mariental Monastery (Latin: Vallis Sanctae Mariae ), founded in Böckingen (today: district of Heilbronn ) in 1238 , moved in 1245, while retaining the name Mariental, eleven kilometers southwest between Güglingen and Brackenheim to Zimmer (from 1360: Frauenzimmern ). The supervisory authority was Maulbronn Monastery , from 1418 Bebenhausen Monastery . Due to economic difficulties, the nuns gave up this location in 1443 and moved to Kirchbachhof (later: Kirbachhof ). There are no material remains of the monastery in the women's rooms. Only the place name ( women = nuns) and the street name Klosterweg are reminiscent of the former monastery.
