Mariental Monastery (Kirbachhof)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The monastery Mariental was 1443-1543 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Kirbachhof , Ochsenbach , City Sachsenheim in the district of Ludwigsburg in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The Mariental Abbey in Frauenzimmern gave up this location in 1443 and, for economic reasons, moved six kilometers southwest of the Kirbachtal between Ochsenbach and Häfnerhaslach to Kirchbachhof (later: Kirbachhof ), where a provost's office of the Odenheim Abbey was previously located. There the convent was under the supervision of the (relatively distant) Bebenhausen monastery , while the Maulbronn monastery (only 10 km from Kirbachhof) supervised the Cistercian monastery of Rechentshofen, 6 km southeast of Kirbachhof . As there was no economic recovery in Kirbachhof either, the monastery (now inhabited by only two nuns) was dissolved in 1553 and the church was demolished in 1566. The present-day agricultural enterprise partly uses former monastery buildings.
