Ziswingen belonged to the Oberamt Alerheim of the Counts of Oettingen until 1441 .

The Bavarian original cadastre shows Ziswingеn in the 1810s with 44 stoves and two mills.

On January 1, 1972, the previously independent Ziswingen was incorporated into the Mönchsdeggingen community. The municipality had its own coat of arms shown above.

Only the lower mill, newly built in 1785/86 and an outbuilding of the former powder mill from the 18th century, are preserved and protected as architectural monuments . (see also: List of architectural monuments in Ziswingen )

To the east of the Untermühle there was a quarry on the ascent to Kreuzberg until the 1980s. After its abandonment, the area began to be used as a residual waste dump. In the mid-2010s, the landfill was closed for nature conservation reasons and a ban on entry was recommended.

The village has about 250 inhabitants.
