Zlatko Grgić

Zlatko Grgić (born June 21, 1931 in Zagreb , Kingdom of Yugoslavia , † October 4, 1988 in Toronto , Canada ) was a Yugoslav animator and film director.

Life

Grgić studied journalism and law at the University of Zagreb , but dropped out. He initially worked as a cartoonist for various newspapers and magazines and in 1956 joined the animation department of the Zagreb Film studio . As an animator, he was involved in films by Nikola Kostelac ( Premijera , Susret u snu ) and Dušan Vukotić , among others . As a director he created the television series Profesor Baltazar from 1967 and the series Maxi Cat from 1971 . In 1970 he went to the National Film Board of Canada for a few months , where he animated and directed the film Hot Stuff, about the development of fire and electricity. With Bob Godfrey he created the satirical short animated film Dream Doll in 1979 , which received an Oscar nomination in 1980 for the best animated short film category. Grgić died in 1988.
