Zohar Fraiman (born October 15, 1987 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli painter .

life and work

Zohar Fraiman began studying painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston . From 2005 to 2009 she was in the master class at the private Jerusalem Studio School in Israel. From 2011 she studied at the Berlin University of the Arts , where she completed her studies from 2013 to 2015 as a master class student with Burkhard Held . Zohar Fraiman paints figuratively.

On her initiative, a joint exhibition was created with a total of nine Jewish, Christian and Muslim artists who live in Berlin, which was shown in 2012 in Berlin and Jerusalem. The topic was artistic positions on religion, tradition and taboo. The artists dealt with the ambivalences of their religious feelings. One of Zohar Fraiman's paintings with the title Anna's Pleasure depicts in darkened colors “the sexual pleasure of a woman with friends like a falling angel in a crucifixion scene in the style of Caravaggio ”. In another she painted the Jewish candle ritual, Hadlakat Ha Ner, in two scenes , between mother and daughter on Shabbat . Customs that mothers pass on to their daughters lead to pain in their paintings.
