Zoltan Vidor
Zoltan Vidor , in the USA also Zoli Vidor (born March 31, 1910 in Gran , Austria-Hungary ; † March 6, 1994 in Palm Springs , California , United States ) was a Hungarian-American cameraman .
Live and act
The son of the Jewish couple Ludwig and Mathilde Vidor was the older brother of Ladislaus Vidor and began to work at his side for Viennese emigrant productions. While Ladislaus was editing these films, Zoltan was behind the camera. Zoltan took over the production management for the last two joint productions, the Hungarian production " Die Entführte Braut " (also known as Roxi and her wonder team ), which was made in Vienna and at Lake Balaton .
As a result of the Anschluss of Austria , both Jewish brothers decided at the end of March 1938 to flee from the new rulers to the USA. There Zoltan mostly worked under his nickname Zoli Vidor, but, like Ladislaus, remained notoriously underemployed for many years. He was finally naturalized on August 9, 1946. In 1948 Zoltan "Zoli" Vidor founded his own small company, Transocean Pictures Hollywood. He was almost exclusively allowed to take B-pictures for the cinema .
