Zoltán Halász

Zoltán Halász (born September 23, 1960 in Szekszárd ) is a former Hungarian cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Halász (also written as Zoltan Halasz in German media) started for the Spartacus Szekszárd association. He was a participant in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow . There he was classified as 40th in the road race . With the team of Hungary, he finished in the team time trial on the 17th Place. In 1985 he was the Hungarian road racing champion . Also in 1985 he won the championship in the individual time trial . Halász was also able to win championship titles in cyclo-cross races; he won the title in 1981–1982, 1984–1985. In 1979 he was the winner of the International Tour of Budapest . Further successes were his victories in the Grand Prix Cycliste de Gemenc (for years the most important and internationally most popular cycling race in Hungary) in 1978 and in the Mecsek Cup in 1979, a stage race in Hungary. Halász completed a number of European country tours with the Hungarian national team, such as the Austria Tour , the GDR Tour and the International Peace Tour . He drove the latter a total of five times, his best result being 18th in 1983 .

Halász completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter .

Familiar

Zoltán Halász is the brother of László Halász , who was also active as a cyclist. Her father worked as a mechanic for the Hungarian national team for years.
