Karl-Heinz Stummer (born December 11, 1936 in Linz , † October 12, 2007 in Mödling ) was an Austrian singer and actor .

Life

Stummer was born the son of a bank clerk. After he had to leave high school prematurely, he did an apprenticeship as a typesetter and then worked as a proofreader and editor , among other things on the paperback edition of the works of Karl May . In 1952 he became a member of the pennal association Gothia Linz . He studied singing at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, but was more inclined to acting.

He got an engagement at the theater in St. Pölten, was at the Landestheater Linz and performed at the Stadttheater Baden . He had to cancel his contract with the Landestheater Innsbruck because he was the victim of a traffic accident and had to go to rehabilitation. He worked as a proofreader at the Ueberreuter publishing house . He also appeared at the summer games in Gutenstein and at performances in old people's homes in Vienna. In 1978 he moved to Gießhübl . From 1980 until his retirement in 1996 he worked as an actor and singer at the Stadttheater Baden. He was involved in the founding of the Karl-Theater Gießhübl , joined it in 1981 and, among other things, worked in 1982 as a director and at the same time in the lead role of the crime comedy Ein Murderischer Tag . In 1985 he moved to Brunn am Gebirge . He lived his evangelical Christian faith, which was evident in his commitment to the local presbytery. In 1992 and 1996 he performed Jedermann in the church of Gießhübl . In 1996 he became a member of the Aldania fraternity in Vienna . In 2003 he had a heart operation, which limited his activities, but before his death in 2006 and 2007 he was able to play the role of the magical king again in Ödön von Horváth's Tales from the Vienna Woods .
