action

In a gloomy end-of-time scenario, Pakistan fires warheads with biochemical-nuclear cargo at India , which inevitably leads to an escalating armed conflict, in which biological weapons are also used. Unfortunately, this conflict is having dire consequences that will soon be felt all over the world. The dead rise from their graves like an epidemic and roam around in search of living victims, greedy for human flesh. They attacked the living and turned them into bloodthirsty creatures, which in turn stalk other people in order to "zombify" them. The population is terrorized within a very short time by an invasion of the undead , so-called zombies .

Mark, his partner Amber and daughter Emily spent several weeks vacation in complete seclusion with no contact with the outside world. On the way back from their remote domicile, they take emergency reports from the car radio about walking monsters, depopulated cities and the decline of civilization. Briefly they come to a rest in their vehicle, unsuspecting. In search of protection, they flee to a large residential complex away from the street, where they quarter in the basement of the building. Two days later, when water and food ran out, Mark ventured to the surface. Reality overtakes the small family by now.

The family man meets other survivors, including the widowed Dave, a charismatic leader who initially shies away from taking responsibility. Since that ragged group consisting of the most varied of characters needs a safe refuge from which they want to take up the armed fight against the undead, they sometimes forcefully join the small family in the underground building. The community holed up, supplies itself with essential food and enough drinking water. Nevertheless, there are repeated arguments between Dave, who makes a name for himself as a leader seeking respect, and the selfish troublemaker Derek, which also endanger the life of the group. The cohesion of the group is gradually waning, mutual accusations and intrigues lead to the fact that the members finally split into two camps.

As night falls, the survivors are overrun by zombies; many of those trapped are bitten by charging monsters, including Mark, who later dies from the consequences. The group is gradually being decimated. In this phase, the situation escalates within the group and there is an open break with Derek, but also with those who are doomed to die. The mad Derek is increasingly becoming a danger who vengefully afflicts the other camp and does not shrink from murder.

Under Dave's leadership, the barricaded organize survival and armed struggle, but due to the machinations of Derek, the few survivors have to give up their hiding place as it is no longer considered safe. In the meantime, Amber dies; Dave takes on the now orphaned Emily to lead her with the other "wards" to a government assembly point. On the way they meet Derek, whom they handcuffed and leave to the undead after a short scuffle. At the end of the film, Dave reveals to the few loyal companions his rather bleak future prospect, which is characterized by powerlessness in the face of the numerically superior enemy. Nevertheless, in the open end, he is sure that one day the opponent can be fought effectively.

Reviews

"Obviously, the hopeful makers of this gray-gray, 08/15 splatter that painstakingly avoiding every original variant of the well-known siege scheme with enough fake blood, separated limbs, etc. have been studied by the hopeful makers of the zombie film. In addition to a predictable script and too little money, the film suffers many main and supporting actors, so that in the end none of them want any real sympathy. For trash researchers and zombie film completists. "
