Zombies - The Beginning (Original title: Zombi: La creazione ) is an Italian low budget - Horror with splatter -Deposits director Bruno Mattei is from the year 2007. The production Matteis last work as a filmmaker; The director died a few months after filming was finished.
The direct-to-video production was released on November 13, 2008 as a rental DVD and on January 15, 2009 as a DVD for sale in Germany. Originally planned as a trilogy, the film follows on from its predecessor, the Island of the Living Dead , made in 2006 .

Southeast Asia (in the first part the Caribbean was the scene of the action) in the present. A salvage ship is stranded on an unknown tropical island populated by the living dead , so-called zombies . While going ashore, the young scientist Sharon and her crew are attacked and decimated by bloodthirsty creatures. At the same time, the rescue ship is destroyed in a huge explosion. Sharon manages to escape until she is the only survivor to be rescued by the coast guard, floating unconscious on a raft in the sea.
In civilization, the traumatized victim of zombie hunting is heard by her superiors, but finds no faith and even loses her job after a brief dispute. To process the events, Sharon then goes to a Buddhist temple complex . Six months later, Paul Barker, a representative of the pharmaceutical company Tyler Inc. , lured her to a mysterious island on the pretext of a rescue mission. In the huge area, people experiment in secret with the revenants .
Despite initial hesitation, Sharon finally agrees. She travels to the said island with Barker, a team of scientists and a well-trained small private army. After a short time, the group is received there with hostility. Blood flows. The expedition members quickly realize that the undead have evolved. They pose a serious threat to society as a whole, which one has to get hold of, even though the Barker present tries to secure a zombie baby for his employer. In the course of the plot, the living are overrun by hordes of zombies and one after the other killed or infected. In this brutal struggle for survival, Sharon keeps a cool head. At the end of the film - in the meantime all the others have been killed - she manages to set fire to the entire building complex in addition to the bizarre zombie creator, although the zombie plague does not seem to have been defeated.
Reviews
The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was an "insignificant, under-produced horror film as easily transparent plagiarism that once again overused the already overwhelmed zombie genre" .
