Romeo Zondervan (born March 4, 1959 in Paramaribo , Suriname ) is a former Dutch football player with roots in Suriname.
Career
The midfielder began his career as an immigrant son from the former Dutch colony in 1977 with ADO Den Haag . In 1978 he went to FC Twente Enschede after only one year in the government seat . He stayed in Enschede for four years and went to England from there . In 1982 he signed a contract with West Bromwich Albion and two years later he joined Ipswich Town . In ten years in England, the Dutchman made a total of 358 appearances in the English leagues. In 1992 he returned to the Netherlands and moved to the NAC Breda . Zondervan ended his career in 1995. He could not win a single title.
Internationally he played once for the Dutch selection. He took part in the 1980 European Football Championship in Italy , where the Netherlands were eliminated in the preliminary round as third in the group.
