Zorka of Montenegro
Princess Ljubica "Zorka" of Montenegro (* December 11th July / December 23rd 1864 greg. In Cetinje , Montenegro ; † March 4th July / March 16, 1890 greg. Ibid) was a member of the House of Petrović-Njegoš and by marriage Crown Princess of Serbia.
Life
Zorka was the eldest daughter of King Nikola I of Montenegro (1841-1921) and his wife Milena Vukotić (1847-1923). Zorka, as she was called in the family, grew up with her siblings in Cetinje. She was later educated in the Russian boarding school Smolny Monastery .
On July 30 jul. / August 11, 1883 greg. married Princess Zorka of Montenegro in Cetinje Prince Peter Karađorđević (1844–1921), eldest son of the Serbian Prince Alexander I. The marriage had five children:
- Elena (1884–1962) ⚭ 1911 Prince Ivan Konstantinowitsch Romanow
- Milena (1886-1887)
- Georg (1887–1972), declared insane
- Alexander (1888–1934) ⚭ 1922 Princess Maria of Romania
- Andrea (* / † 1890).
While, after the abdication of her father-in-law in 1858, initially with Mihailo Obrenović , Milan I. Obrenović and Aleksandar Obrenović ruled the competing dynasty Obrenović , she lived in Geneva and Cetinje, in exile . Crown Princess Ljubica "Zorka" of Serbia died in Cetinje in 1890 while giving birth to her fifth child and was buried in the crypt in St. George's Church in Topola , Serbia.
