The Zrzávka (German Zrzawka or Untere Titsch ) is a left tributary of the Jičínka in the Czech Republic.
course
The Zrzávka arises near Domorac in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids from several source streams that arise on the northern slope of the Oprchlice (639 m nm) and between the Bzovka (448 m nm) and the Nad Kamenném (502 m nm) and run north of the Hostašovice train station unite in the Kacabaja reservoir. Some sections of the source streams are protected as Prameny Zrzávky natural monument .
The villages Hodslavice and Bludovice extend to the north through the Štramberská vrchovina ( Stramberger Uplands ) . On its lower course, the Zrzávka forms the boundary between Žilina and Nový Jičín-Horní Předměstí. In this area there is a weir from which the mill ditch was formerly derived. The school island, named after the agricultural school, extends north of the trench that is now filled in. After 10.3 kilometers the Zrzávka joins the Jičínka in Žilina at the tip of the school island .
Flood
The heavy rain on June 24, 2009 led to a flash flood of the Zrzávka.
Prameny Zrzávky natural monument
One and a half kilometers north of the main source of the Zrzávka there are a total of five mineral springs on the Domorazské sedlo ( Domoratzer Saddle ) on two other source streams. Although they are close to one another, they have very different compositions and are considered a hydrological phenomenon. The Smradlavka spring contains a lot of hydrogen sulfide; the red-colored Kyselka or Zrzávka , located four meters away , contains iron sulfate. The White Spring ( Bílá studánka ) or Čtenice , located 300 meters away, carries bacterial, sulphurous water and colors its surroundings white. The White Spring served the Protestants of Hodslavice as a meeting place for Bible readings before the Thirty Years War.
In 1993 the springs and the surrounding natural wet meadows were placed under protection on an area of 0.47 ha. During the flash flood of June 24, 2009, the White Spring was almost completely washed up. It was then restored and roofed over.
