Zsolt Mastaleriu (born March 7, 1989 in Gheorgheni ) is a Romanian ice hockey player who has been playing for Milton Keynes Thunder in the National Ice Hockey League , the third highest British league, since 2015 .

Career

Club

Zsolt Mastaleriu began his career in the youth department of Újpesti TE in the Hungarian capital Budapest . In the 2008/09 season he played at CS Progym Gheorgheni from his hometown in the multinational MOL league . He then moved to Bucharest, where he was on the ice for the local CSA Steaua, initially in the Romanian league and from 2010 for two years in the MOL league. With Steaua, he won the cup competition in 2011 . From 2012 to 2014 he played at ASC Corona 2010 Brașov also in the MOL league and the Romanian ice hockey league and was Romanian champion with the club in 2014 after winning the national cup with the club the year before. In 2014 he moved to the National Ice Hockey League , the third highest British league, to the Oxford City Stars, which he left after a year in the direction of league rivals Milton Keynes Thunder.

International

Mastaleriu already played in the junior division for Romania: He took part in the U18 World Cup in 2005 and the U20 World Cup in 2009 in Division II.

Mastaleriu made his debut in the men's national team at the 2014 World Cup when the Romanians were relegated from Division I. In the following year he joined Division II, where he and his team managed to get promoted again immediately.
