life and work

Zvi Goldstein was born in Transylvania and came to Israel in 1958. In Jerusalem he studied from 1966 to 1969 at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design . Goldstein lived in Italy from 1969 to 1978. In 1972 he graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. In 1978 he returned to Jerusalem and was given a teaching position at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.

“Well over 850 objects and images, from antiquity to the present, from different cultures around the globe form a dense, complex and hybrid cosmos in Haunted by Objects. The starting point is 62 text passages from Room 205, the artist's new book. In a poetic language interspersed with various elements, it depicts a one-minute flashback in a hotel room shortly after waking up. The text is an expression of a state of consciousness between daydream, fantasy and hallucination, in which fragments of one's own life with artistic, cultural and philosophical considerations are united in a kaleidoscopic manner.
