After several years as head of the Tel Aviv University of Technology, Zvi H. Rosen has been professor of philosophy at Tel Aviv University since 1964 - from 1983 to 1988 he was dean of the philosophy faculty. Rosen held the Franz Rosenzweig visiting professorship at the University of Kassel in 1992 . On April 29, 2014 Zvi H. Rosen died in Tel Aviv - shortly after the death of his wife, whom he cared for over the past few years.

His books and philosophical treatises, written in several languages - Polish, English, Hebrew, German - and translated into even more languages, revolve primarily around three subject areas:

  1. the study of the history of philosophy by the Young Hegelians - especially Moses Hess , Bruno Bauer and Karl Marx ;
  2. Studies on the political philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche ;
  3. the philosophical development of critical theory , especially studies on Max Horkheimer and Herbert Marcuse .

All of these three fields of research are interlinked, whereby Zvi H. Rosen is particularly concerned with working out the interrelationship between political and religious thought.
