Malbo Gentile is a red wine variety . It is mainly cultivated in the Emilia-Romagna region , where it is approved in the provinces of Modena and Reggio nell'Emilia . Approved is the grape variety in the DOC - wines Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa and Reggiano . It is also used in some IGT red wines in the region.
Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The medium-sized, almost pentagonal leaves (see also the article leaf shape ) are either not curved or three-lobed.
- The pyramidal grape is large and shouldered. The round berries are medium-sized and black and blue in color.
Malbo Gentile ripens 15–20 days after the Gutedel and is one of the grape varieties of the middle second ripening period (see the chapter in the article Grape variety) and is therefore considered to ripen early in northern Italy. The moderately vigorous variety produces good yields. It is susceptible to the fungal diseases powdery mildew and downy mildew . Malbo Gentile is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ).
