Zvi Rav-Ner

Zvi Rav-Ner (* 1950 in Świdnica , Poland ) is an Israeli diplomat . From April 2009 to 2014 he was ambassador to Poland .

In 1957 Rav-Ner emigrated to Israel with his parents. From 1969 to 1972 he did his military service. He then studied from 1972 to 1976 at Tel Aviv University and received his Bachelor of Arts (BA). In 1977 he started working in the Israeli Foreign Ministry . After serving in the Southern-Eastern Mediterranean Department , a division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from 1978 to 1980 , Rav-Ner became Second Secretary at the Israeli Embassy in Helsinki , Finland in 1980 . He was later promoted to First Secretary. In 1983 he moved to the Israeli embassy in Bucharest , where he served as First Secretary and Deputy Chief of Mission . In 1985 Rav-Ner returned to Israel and became Counselor and Deputy Director of the Eastern European Department of the Foreign Ministry. From this post Rav-Ner moved to the Israeli embassy in London in 1988 , where he worked as Minister Counselor for Public Affairs until 1993 . During this time in 1990 he was chargé d' affaires at the Israeli embassy in Warsaw . From 1993 to 2001 he was director of the Central Europe Department of the Israeli Foreign Ministry. Rav-Ner's next post took him again to London, where he was envoy at the Israeli embassy from 2001 to 2006. In 2004 he was chargé d'affaires of the embassy. In 2006 he was again director of the Central Europe Department and remained so until 2009. From 2009 to 2014 he was the Israeli ambassador to Poland.

Rav-Ner has been married since 1973. He is the father of two sons and a daughter.
