Zweckverband waste management in the Trier region
The Zweckverband Abfallwirtschaft Region Trier (ART) is a public corporation in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Trier and is responsible for waste disposal in the city of Trier , the districts of Trier-Saarburg , Bernkastel-Wittlich , Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm and Vulkaneifel .
It emerged in 2016 from the waste management association in the Trier area , which was founded in 1973.
The area has about 520,000 inhabitants and an area of just under 5,000 square kilometers.
ART is based in the independent city of Trier and maintains facilities in Mertesdorf (waste disposal and recycling center (EVZ) with a landfill and a mechanical-biological drying system ), in Trier harbor on behalf of the dual systems , in Sehlem (disposal center), in Rittersdorf (EVZ) and in Walsdorf (waste transfer station) as well as around 80 green waste collection points.
