history

A lower nobility from Zwiefaltendorf can be proven from the end of the 11th to the end of the 13th century. As early as 1200, the bosses of Zwiefaltendorf were resident next door, relatives of the Lords of Stein and von Pflumper , who disappeared at the end of the 13th century.

Since the middle of the 15th century a line of von Speth sat here, which was also named von Zwiefaltendorf. The castle was demolished in 1660, the foundations have been preserved in the castle garden. The castle from the second half of the 17th century was renovated in the 18th century.

Most of the village was probably part of Württemberg in the 14th century . The gentlemen von Stadion and von Stein are also mentioned as owners . The castle and lordship were given to von Speth as a Württemberg pledge, and in 1441 as a property with all rights. In 1503 the place received market rights and in 1511 blood jurisdiction as an imperial fiefdom .

In 1805 the knightly place came to the Duchy of Württemberg and was subordinate to the Oberamt Riedlingen .
