The Zwinglipasshütte is a hut of the SAC Section Toggenburg near the Zwinglipass at the foot of the Altmann .

history

In 1968, construction work began on the hut on the property that had been bought by the Alpine Corporation in 1966. At the inauguration of the hut in 1970, which was also the 100th anniversary of the Toggenburg section, 380 guests were catered for. The electrical power supply from a 200 watt solar system for the kitchen, basement and winter room was built in 1983. The first extension of the hut began in 1991, with the new terrace being completed in the same year. In 2013 half-board was introduced at the hut , with products that can be stored in the hut (no fresh meat, no fresh vegetables). In 2016, a construction loan of CHF 1,330,000 was approved at the Annual General Meeting, with which construction work could begin in 2017. The excavators' approach to the construction site took two days over pathless terrain. Despite a fire when the chimney breached on September 2, 2017, construction work was completed on November 16, 2017.

The hut is supplied by porters, so around 200 voluntary porters were deployed in 2018 to bring six tons of material to the hut for the following season.
