The Mitterteich interim storage facility is an interim storage facility for radioactive waste in Mitterteich , Bavaria.

Here the GRB - Collection Point Bavaria for Radioactive Materials GmbH has been operating two collection points since 1985 on behalf of the Bavarian State Ministry for Environment, Health and Consumer Protection .

Collection points

State collection point

This is a state collection point for radioactive waste . The waste is weakly or moderately radioactive and comes mainly from nuclear medicine, industry and research institutions. It has an approved storage capacity of 10,000 waste containers (200 and 400 liter drums).

Solid waste from Bavaria is stored in this collection point.

EVU warehouse

Central interim storage facility for low and medium level radioactive waste from nuclear facilities in Bavaria, so-called " EVU storage facility" . The approved storage capacity is 40,000 waste containers (200 and 400 liter drums).

Among other things, contaminated components from the dismantling of the Gundremmingen nuclear power plant and the Kahl am Main experimental nuclear power plant (VAK), which had gone offline, as well as decommissioned core components from the Grafenrheinfeld nuclear power plant were stored here.
