Zygmunt A. Piotrowski

Zygmunt Antoni Piotrowski (born April 18, 1904 in Posen , † November 27, 1985 in Philadelphia ) was a Polish-American psychologist who worked on the Rorschach test . He received the Bruno Klopfer Award in 1971 and the American Psychological Association's Award for Outstanding Professional Contribution in 1980 .

Life

Piotrowski was born in Poznan. He attended St. Maria Magdalena Grammar School and then Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan . He studied psychology , philosophy and symbolic logic and received his doctorate in 1927 . Since 1928 he made postgraduate studies at Columbia University ; then Piotrowski worked from 1934 to 1954 at the New York State Psychiatric Institute , which was affiliated with Columbia. He dealt with experimental psychology , with the Rorschach test and the thematic perception test .

Perceptanalysis

Piotrowski developed an analysis method for the Rorschach test, which he called Perceptanalysis , which emphasizes the association of images and not secondary associations.
