Zygmunt Idzikowski
Zygmunt Zenon Idzikowski (* 1884 in Kalisch ; † August 28, 1911 in Warsaw ) was a Polish poet of the symbolism era .
Life
His father Edmund came from the nobility of the Kalisch district, was a landowner and lawyer , his mother, Wanda nee. Łopuska, was also of noble origin. The father died around 1890 . After his death, his mother and son moved first to Zakopane and later to Warsaw . Zygmunt made his debut in Warsaw magazines at the age of 16. He lived as a mother tongue teacher in Warsaw girls' boarding houses. In 1910 married Zygmunt famous for their beauty actress Zofia Kubecka and began working in a Warsaw insurance company, at the same time he belonged to the group of young writers, headed by Wacław songs stand (but who did not write), a friend of Stefan George , who were influenced by George's aesthetic ideas and published their poems in the newly founded magazine "Sztuka" (" The Art "), an imitation of George's "Leaves for Art". While Idzikowski was still alive, his collected poems were published by the Sztuka publishing house in exquisite graphics. His lyrics were somber and full of pessimism and catastrophism .
On August 28, 1911, Zygmunt shot his nineteen-year-old wife in a fit of jealousy and then committed suicide. The couple was buried in the Warsaw Powązki Cemetery in the suicide department without the participation of the clergy .
