Cell poison
Cell poison or cytotoxin is a term for substances that have a damaging or destructive effect on a biological cell ( cytocidal ). Cell poisons are z. B.
- Hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) - damages cells, experimentally leads to programmed cell death of isolated cells.
- Cytostatic drugs - drugs used for the treatment of carcinoma and leukemia ; the damage to malignant (degenerate) cells is desired here.
- Ethanol - This and the direct physiological degradation product ethanal are toxic .
- Antibiotics - are toxic to bacterial cells .
