Fyodor Petrowitsch Simaschow ( Russian Фёдор Петрович Симашёв ; born March 13, 1945 Verkhny Bagrjasch, Tatar ASSR ; † December 20, 1997 in Sainsk , Russia ) was a Russian cross-country skier who started for the Soviet Union in the 1970s .

Career

Simaschow, who started for Dynamo Moscow, made his international debut at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble . There he finished 26th over 15 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Štrbské Pleso , he was world champion with the relay. He also won the bronze medal there over 15 km and finished fourth over 50 km. At the 1970 Winter Universiade in Rovaniemi , he won the gold medal over 15 km. The following year he took third place over 15 km at the Lahti Ski Games . At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , he won the silver medal over 15 km and the gold medal with the relay. He was also eighth over 50 km and sixth over 30 km. At the 1972 Winter Universiade in Lake Placid , he won over 15 km, 30 km and with the relay the gold medal. In 1973 he came third at the Svenska Skidspelen with the relay and over 30 km each. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1974 in Falun , he won the silver medal with the relay. He also achieved 26th place over 30 km there. In Soviet championships he won seven times with the relay (1968-1970, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976), three times over 30 km (1969, 1971, 1973) and once over 15 km (1968) and over 50 km (1974) .
