LAD Productions

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

LAD was a British car brand that was in the market from 1913 to 1914 and from 1923 to 1926.

Originally, the cars were brought out from 1913 by the Oakleigh Motor Company in West Dulwich (London) . It was a cycle car . Usually it was a one-seater structure, but there were also some two-seaters. The car was powered by a single-cylinder engine from the Stag Company , the power of which was fed to the rear wheels by a chain. There was no gearbox and therefore only one forward gear. The original price was £ 60 . With the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, production was stopped.

In 1923, production of the car was resumed by LAD Productions Ltd. in Farnham, Surrey . In addition to the original model, there was also a version with a 350 cm³ V2 engine . The original price was now £ 75. But “real” small cars, like the Austin 7 priced at 165 pounds, robbed the cyclecars of any market opportunity and the company was closed in 1926.
