Wrestling Society X (WSX) is a professional wrestling promotion created in 2006 by Kevin Kleinrock and Houston Curtis for MTV.

Wrestling Society X airs Tuesdays at 10:30 pm ET on MTV. It competes with the second half of Extreme Championship Wrestling, which airs one-hour episodes every Tuesday on Sci-Fi Channel. The series will also air on MTV New Zealand at 9:00 pm Tuesdays beginning March 6th.[1]

An additional program called WSXtra is posted each week on the promotion's website and MTV Overdrive, featuring WSX matches and interviews not broadcast on television.

History and style

WSX is presented as a secret society of wrestling that utilizes a venue referred to as the WSX Bunker for its rituals. In matches held within this venue, falls count anywhere. Along with wrestling, WSX features musical guests playing at the start of each episode, with band members joining announcers Kris Kloss and Bret Ernst on commentary each week.

The WSX pilot was taped on February 10, 2006 in Los Angeles, California, and all wrestlers present were forced to sign an agreement stating that they would participate in a full season if the show was picked up by MTV. Delirious refused to sign the agreement, as it would have prevented him from working for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. Because of this, he was not used at the taping.

On July 8, 2006, MTV commissioned the promotion to produce a full season of episodes for their network. WSX taped its first season of shows between November 11th and November 16, 2006 in Los Angeles, California. The tapings were booked by head writer Kevin Kleinrock, Cody Michaels and Vampiro.

The series premiered on January 30, 2007. It is currently scheduled to run for one season, with filming for a second season tentatively set to begin in March 2007.[2]

The fourth episode of the series was pulled by MTV after a stunt featuring Ricky Banderas throwing a fireball at Vampiro was deemed unairable by the network.[3] The episode will eventually air in edited form.[4]

Although WSX currently has no plans to tour, various independent promotions have scheduled WSX matches for their shows.[5]
