Jalgaon Jamod is a tehsil and a municipal council town situated in the north of Buldana district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Jalgaon (Jamod) had a population of 26,275. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Jalgaon (Jamod) has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 62%. In Jalgaon (Jamod), 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Borders

• In East there is Sangrampur tehsil.
• In West there is Muktainagar Tehsil in Jalgaon Khandesh District
• In North there is Burhanpur District State of Madhya Pradesh
• In south there is Nandura Tehsil.

In August 1905 the tehsil was part of then Akola District and was traferred to Buldhana district alongwith Khamgaon tehsil. As per Ain-e-Akbari, it was a Pargana town in the Sarkar ( then district ) of Narnala of Berar Subah .

Transport

There is no Railway Track in the tehsil. Nandura on Bhusawal - Badnera Section of Bhusawal Division of Central Railway is a nearby railway Station.

The main means of travel are the roadways.State Highway no.194 connecting to Nandura and Jalgaon Jamod is the main road. Others are the road going to Burhanpur from Jalgaon Jamod and other is Khandvi - Muktainagar road going via Kurha. State Highway 195 connects Jalgagon Jamod to MH SH 24 via Sangrampur - Telhara.

Natural

Purna is the largest river in the Tehsil which is also largest in the District . There is the satpuda mountain ranges in the northern part of the Tehsil. The Pandurang Waving Bridge on State Highway 194 is the oldest waving Bridge in the Town.

Educational

1. The New Era High School: This is famous school in tahsil. Divisions upto Std XI Arts and Science

Political

• Jalgaon Jamod is a part of Buldana Loksabha constituency. Mr.Anandrao Adsul of Shivasena is the Member of parliament of this constituency.
• Mr.Sanjay Kute of BJP is the Member of Vidhansabha.
• Mr.Dattatray Patil (commonly known as-Datta Patil) is a very well known political person in this region, who is one of the few politically strong leaders of Shivsena in Buldana Loksabha constituency.
• Mr. Gajanan Wagh of Shivsena commonly known as Gaja or Gaja Bhau is the Head of Munciple Corporation of Jalgaon Jamod.

Mr Prakash patil is the president of Z.P.

Crops

• Cotton is the main crop in this tehsil. Jowar, Gram, Black gram,Sun Flower are the other crops. Wheat is taken in Rabbi .

• Asalgaon is the main market place in the tehsil where Tuesday is the weekly day of market.
• Pimpalgaon Kale is one another market place situated on Khandvi-Kurha road.
• Dhanora is the religious place where is the famous temple of Mahasiddha Maharaj.
• Palsi Supo is another religious place with the temple of Supo Maharaj. There is held a fair on each Sunday of Pausha month of Hindu calendar.
• Manegaon is the Gateway to tehsil situated on state highway 194.
• The Raja Bartari Temple is one of the oldest prestegouis temple in India.There are only two temples of this all over the country.
• The new era high school is the most famous school in Jalgaon ( Jamod).
• Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jalgaon Jamod] is main Agriculture Extension Centre in District
• S.V.G.I. College of Agriculture & B.TEch. (Agri) one of the graduate college in Jalgaon Jamod.
• Khandvi is a main junction from where one can go west to Jalgaon (Khandesh) and to Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh).
• Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj colleage of engg is very famous collage in Amravati University.
