Khamgaon is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra .

Khamgaon is located in the Buldhana district 45 km east-northeast of the district capital Buldhana and 45 km west of Akola . The city is of the rank of Municipal Council . It is divided into 32 wards . The national highway NH 6 ( Jalgaon –Akola) passes through the city. Khamgaon has a dead end station that is connected to the Jalgaon – Akola railway.

In the 2011 census, the population was 94,191. 65% of the population belong to the religion of Hinduism , 24.8% are Muslims , 7.36% are Buddhists and 1.81% followers of Jainism .
