The following is a timeline of acts and failed attempts that can be considered non-state terrorism in 2000.

  • Spain Spain, January 22: Pedro Antonio Blanco García, is killed in a southern neighborhood in Madrid when a car bomb explodes.
  • Spain Spain, February 22: Basque separatist group ETA, kills the leader of the opposition Basque Socialist Party and his bodyguard.
  • United States United States. The last of the 2000 millennium attack plots fails, as the boat meant to bomb USS The Sullivans sinks.
  • Germany Germany. Police foil the Strasbourg cathedral bombing plot.
  • Spain Spain, March 7: A powerful car bomb explodes in San Sebastían and 17 people were injuried. The terrorist's target was two Guardia Civil policemen.
  • Pakistan Pakistan, May: The Balochistan Liberation Army begins its attacks against government and military targets in Balochistan.
  • Colombia Colombia, March 15: A botched rocket attack by rebels against an army base left two dead and 14 injured near Medellín.[1]
  • Spain Spain, March 27: ETA tries to kill Spanish reporter Carlos Herrera at his home of Sevilla.
  • France France, April 19:The Breton Revolutionary Army bombs a McDonalds in Dinan, killing a waitress. [2]
  • Spain Spain, ETA kills El Mundo columnist López de Lacall, age 62.
  • Colombia Colombia, May 16: Suspected FARC guerrillas detonated a collar bomb they attached to dairy farmer Elvia Cortes, age 55, after she refused to pay a $7,500 extorsion. This event is the theme of the movie PVC-1, winner of the Director's Fortnight Selection Award at the Cannes Film Festival 2007.

  • Greece Greece, June 8: Stephen Saunders, a British Defense Attaché, was assassinated by Revolutionary Organization 17 November in Athens.

  • Russia Russia, August 8: A bomb exploded at an underpass in Pushkin Square in Moscow, killing eleven people and wounding more than 90.[3]

  • Spain Spain, August 9: Francisco Casanova Vicente, age 46, an army officer is shot dead in the northern city of Pamplona. ETA claimed responsability for the 3 attacks.
  • Latvia Latvia, August 17: Two bombs exploded in a shopping center in Riga, injuring 35 people.[4]
