Template:Spoiler CTU agents are investigating the area where the exchange went on with Jack Bauer and Cheng Zhi. Mike Doyle attempts to speak to Audrey Raines, but she is non-responsive. Jack demands to speak to her, but they are sent back to CTU separately. Back in the White House, Karen Hayes informs Daniels that CTU is working hard to find Cheng, but will need more time. Daniels tells Karen that he knows her difficulties about firing Bill and supports her. Meanwhile, Lisa Miller comes back to her home where she has sex with a man, Mark Bishop, before returning to the White House. They have a conversation which suggests that they are planning something against Daniels. When she is in the shower we see Bishop downloading information from her PDA and making a call to a man with a Russian accent.

Back in the White House the Russian President calls to speak to Daniels regarding the circuit board being in the hands of the Chinese, demanding that the US government retrieve the board or face a response from Russia militarily. Daniels and Lennox realize that there is someone working in either the White House or CTU who gave the Russians the information about the circuit board. Daniels orders both Tom and Karen to investigate.

As Karen talks to Nadia about the leak and presses her to find Cheng, Doyle brings back both Audrey and Jack to CTU. While Jack is under arrest in a holding cell, Audrey is sent to medical to see if they can get information from her about Cheng. Jack asks Doyle to take care of Audrey. The doctor sent from Division tells Nadia that they have to inject her with a drug that can potentially kill Audrey to try to extract information in time. Despite protests from Doyle, Nadia orders the doctor to proceed. At the same time, Nadia denies Morris's request for a transfer. When Chloe confronts Morris about his transfer request, Morris tells her that he can't work with her and their relationship is over. The confrontation results in Chloe sobbing to a wall.

Tom Lennox tells the President that Mark Bishop, the man posing as a lobbyist, is the man working with the Russians and that Daniel's assistant, Lisa Miller, had to be the mole because she and Bishop had spent several times together in hotels. Daniels looks stricken and tells Lennox that they have an even bigger problem than that Miller was sleeping with Bishop -he says that she was sleeping with him too. Now Lennox looks stricken as Daniels explains that he became involved with Miller afer his wife died, and that he had no idea that she was unfaithful to him, or that she could be working with a spy. Lennox says this could actually be an advantage, because she can go back to Bishop and get more information, undercover. Miller returns to the White House and Daniels confronts her - she seems stunned that Bishop was using her and agrees to cooperate.

Meanwhile, Doyle visits Jack and uncuffs him to deliberately allow Jack to escape from holding. Jack knocks Doyle down, and takes his gun and keycard to rescue Audrey from the doctor's dangerous plans. When he arrives there, he knocks down a guard and the psychiatrist who was preparing to drug her.

Jack takes Audrey out of the medical bay, and goes to the lower levels of the complex. Nadia is trying to find Jack and Audrey. Jack knocks out a guard and hides in a spare room, where he tries to break through the torture and apparent brainwashing that the Chinese dealt out to her. She doesn't speak but appears to possibly recognize that Jack is on her side. Nadia finds where Jack and Audrey are hiding and breaks in - Jack holds them off but manages to get Audrey to give them an important clue, a name of a place which may be where Cheng was working from. It is the only word she has spoken other than the brainwashed "Don't let them do this to me Jack" which she has said several times to random people. Nadia tells the doctor that he cannot have Audrey and she promises Jack she won't let them touch her.

Doyle takes Audrey away to medical where her father appears, but she doesn't respond to him either. The last scene sees Audrey's father confront Jack and warn him never to try to see Audrey again. Jack begs him to be allowed to help Audrey get better, saying he will stand by her side. Heller then accuses Jack of being "cursed" and says that everyone around him dies. Jack is devastated.
