The "Way Moby Polka", previously known as the "Ear Booker Polka", is a piece of music that is always the last song on each of Weird Al Yankovic's polka medleys. It is referenced separately in the album credits for legal purposes, to separate the music created by Weird Al Yankovic from the music created by other artists.

Name

The song was originally called the "Ear Booker Polka", in reference to Weird Al Yankovic's production company, "Ear Booker Music", a subsidiary of Broadcast Music Incorporated. When Werid Al's record label Scotti Brothers disbanded in 1997, they sold his recording contract to Volcano Records. In turn, his production changed its name to WAY MOBY (WAY stands for Weird Al Yankovic), and therefore, the song also changed its name to its current version. In the "Angry White Boy Polka", off of Poodle Hat, the song was temporarily changed to "Poodle Hat Polka".

Lyrics

The lyrics to the "Way Moby Polka" change depending upon what song comes before it in the polka medley. The lyrics are listed chronologically below:

  • The earliest known version of the "Ear Booker Polka" appears at the end of "Polkas On 45", which is on "Weird Al" Yankovic in 3-D. The last song in the polka medley is "My Generation", by The Who. As such, the words to the Ear Booker Polka are "Well, I'm talkin' bout my g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g- generation!". The stuttering was a parody of the stuttering in the original song.
  • On Dare to Be Stupid, there is a polka medley called "Hooked On Polkas". The final song in the medley is "Relax", by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. This lyrics to this version of the "Ear Booker Polka" are "When...you...want... to...com-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-e."
  • "Polka Your Eyes Out", off of Off The Deep End, may have been the first polka medley to list the "Ear Booker Polka" in the credits. The last song was "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice, so the "Ear Booker Polka"'s lyrics were "I'll be your ice...ice...baby! (ice ice baby, ice ice baby, ice ice baby) Hey!"
  • Alapalooza featured the "Bohemian Polka", which is not technically a polka medley, as much as it is a polka arrangement of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. However, it does feature the "Ear Booker Polka", with the following lyrics: "No...thing...rea...lly...ma...tters...to me, (nothing matters, nothing matters, nothing matters) anyway the wind, anyway the wind, anyway the wind blows - Hey!"
  • "The Alternative Polka" was on Bad Hair Day. It ended with "Basket Case" by Green Day. The lyrics to this version of the "Ear Booker Polka" were "Or...am...I...just...stoned-oh-oh-oh-oh-ned?" This was the last time the song was listed as the "Ear Booker Polka", as Weird Al joined Volcano Records the following year.
  • Running With Scissors featured "Polka Power!", which ended with "Closing Time" by Semisonic. The "WAY MOBY Polka" featured the lyrics "'Cause...it's...clo...sing...time! (hey it's closing time, we're talkin' bout closing time, it's really closing time) Hey!"
  • The "Angry White Boy Polka", off of Poodle Hat, ends with "The Real Slim Shady" by Eminem. The lyrics here are "Slim Sha...dy...won't...you...please...stand up? (stand up Shady, stand up Shady, stand up Shady) Shady won't you please stand up? Hey!"
  • Straight Outta Lynwood, Weird Al's most recent album, has the polka medley "Polkarama!", which wraps up with "Gold Digger" by Kanye West. The lyrics go "But I...ain't...sayin' she's a...Gold gold digger ... Gold gold digger ... Gold gold digger ... Hey!"
