John Maximillian Dunn (born 1945[1]) is the president of Western Michigan University. He is the eighth president of WMU. Dunn earned his bachelors and Masters degree from Northern Illinois University, and received his an Ed.D. from Brigham Young University in Physical Education.[2]

Dunn first began his career as a university professor at the University of Connecticut in 1972. From 1980 to 1995 Dunn was a professor at the Oregon State University starting out as a professor of health and serving as assistant provost at the time he left. Dunn served as the Dean of the College of Health at the University of Utah from 1995 to 2002. He then served as Assistant Chancellor and Acting Chancellor at Southern Illinois University.[3]

While at Oregon State University Dunn also served on the Covallis School Board for 13 years.[4]

Dunn began his term as president of Western Michigan University on July 1st, 2007.[5]
