Archosaurus is an extinct genus of carnivorous archosauriform reptile.[1] From the latest Permian of Russia and Poland, it is one of the earliest known archosauriforms. The type, and only species, is Archosaurus rossicus, known from several fragmentary specimens which, if compiled, represent parts of the skull and cervical vertebrae.[2][3]

Upon discovery, Archosaurus was believed to have been a basal archosaur, although a 2016 study has disproved this, classifying Archosaurus as a proterosuchid archosauriform.[4]
