Mudhoney

Where do you get your info on mudhoney? They're one of my favorite bands. Jobe6 06:49, September 11, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Pixies herecomesyourman .jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Pak21 15:18, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Pixies monkeygonetoheaven.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Pixies monkeygonetoheaven.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 13:25, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Pateros High School.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Pateros High School.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. Works by the State of Washington and its entities do not fall under the category of "a work by the US Federal Government", and such the Pateros School District does own the copyright to that image of its high school.Alemily 22:49, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-ejaculate

Wikipedia:Profanity: "Words and images that might be considered offensive, profane, or obscene by other Wikipedia readers should be used if and only if their omission would cause the article to be less informative, relevant, or accurate, and no equally suitable alternatives are available." A picture of some exhibitionist's penis is indeed profane and, judging from the discussion page and frequent deletions, is clearly offensive. It does not add to the article at all, since "clear lubricating fluid that is issued from a man's penis when he is sexually aroused" pretty much tells the whole story. Clearly, you have this on their watchlist, choosing to ignore the link at "Wikipedia is not censored" to Wikipedia:Profanity, and re-add every time someone deletes. And many people will not be convinced by Wikipedia policy that violates their own ideas of what Wikipedia should be. But I hope that you will respect not only what Wikipedia rules say, but also what Wikipedia aspires to be. People who insist on unnecessary explicit photographs will make Wikipedia something avoided by teachers, students, the press, and the general public, since it enforces the popular image of Wikipedia as a Wild West where smut and lies are easily promulgated, rather than a self-regulating source of information that is just as reliable and relevant as a traditional encyclopedia. 192.68.228.4 21:58, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair-use images removed from your user page

Hello, Surachit. I've removed some images from User:Surachit/sandbox, as they are copyrighted images that are being used under claims of fair use. Unfortunately, by Wikipedia policies, no fair-use images can be used on user pages; please see the ninth item of the Wikipedia fair-use policy and Wikipedia:Removal of fair use images. These images have not been deleted from any articles. If you have any questions, please let me know. —Bkell (talk) 23:15, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category:United States government publications

Hi! I noticed you created Category:United States government publications. This seems to be redundant with an already extant category, Category:Publications of the United States government. Surachit - thanks for the reply. I originally tried to upload the file with the same name. It would not let me, telling me that the file already existed. Do I have to use the "external editor" option? Perhaps next time I'll figure it out. Thanks again. Kristopher 11:10, 30 August 2006 (CDT)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Modestmouse-weweredeadbeforetheship.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Modestmouse-weweredeadbeforetheship.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJTalk 09:06, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WikiProject Alternative music member.
WikiProject Alternative music, in my eyes, has proved to be successful "improving the encyclopaedic coverage of articles relating to alternative rock", and improving their quality as well. One specific example I have witnessed is The Smashing Pumpkins article. The page has gone from a mediocre work, to GA status, to FA nomination. Only appropriate, as the Pumpkins are undeniably one of the most influential alternative rock bands on the 1990's and beyond.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently ressurected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and not only be a member of alternative Wikipedians, but the rockin' ones as well.
Rock on.

Error on image

An editor made a comment on Talk:Washington gubernatorial election, 2004 about this image you created.[1] The editor notes that the image indicates that Whidbey Island voted strongly in Gregoire's favor, when the county Whidbey is a part of, Island County,[2] voted 53% in favor of Rossi.[3] I figured I'd start with you before seeing if anyone else is interested in making the correction. Fair use rationale for Image:GreenDayAmericanIdiot.ogg

Thanks for uploading Image:GreenDayAmericanIdiot.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 14:03, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Magazine archive request.

Hello, Surachit! I've been working on The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for some time now, and in an effort to improve it further, following the recommendations of a not-so-recent peer review, I've begun to seek out citeable resources. Judging from your entry on the Magazine archive, you possess issues of the Official Xbox Magazine from October 2002 to December 2005. I'd like to request the Morrowind-related information from the January 2004 and October 2003 issues. Of course, if you can't, or don't want to, that's all right as well. Thanks for your time! Fair use rationale for Image:20 Golden Greats.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:20 Golden Greats.jpg.

Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 23:44, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:20 Golden Greats.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:20 Golden Greats.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:44, 24 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 23:44, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
